Modern servers expose out-of-band management, so we reach a machine even when its operating system will not boot — most of what someone standing at the rack could do, we do from here.

When hardware fails. We diagnose the fault, specify exactly what needs replacing, manage the vendor RMA, and configure the replacement once it is in place. Someone local racks it; everything either side of that is ours.

Monitoring agents plus out-of-band management access, so most faults are resolved without anyone needing to be near the rack.
